Mountshannon Village is a very popular spot for cruisers going up and down the Shannon Waterway.

Large harbour with its own beach is a popular spot.

Plenty of spots in the village to relax and take it easy.

Mount Shannon Harbour.

The Harbour in Mountshannon is very sheltered from any traffic on the lake, has its own stone breakwater which was the original one built when the harbour was used for commerce during the times when barges came down the shannon to the Flax Mills in the Village.

Its has a mean depth of about 6 feet within the navigation limits, and can quickly go to 2 feet for those who wanter off.

There are services for boaters including rubbish removal and pumpout for holding tank. There are freshwater taps on the docks.

There is also a Blue Flag beach in Mountshannon, which is located on the east side of the harbour, or on your left and you enter the harbour by car or foot.

Mountshannon search and rescue, which is a division of the Lough Derg Coast Guard, ( shown above ) is located beside the beach.
